These days it seems like everyone has a digital camera. Even mobile phones have a pretty good camera. Post digital revolution, technology enables most of us to be in near reach of creating super photographs. And many believe that if we just point and shoot, the clever technology inside our shiny toys produce masterpieces. Which is simply not the case.
So why use a professional photographer?
From a business point of view, when you hire a pro, you're not just hiring an expensive camera. You're hiring someone who knows how to make you and your business look amazing. They have the experience and the skills to make that wow-factor photo. Quality images show off your strengths and re-enforces your own business abilities to potential new customers.
Whether you're after employee portraits, documenting a special work event, shooting your company's product for an advert, or taking photos of a new building, a professional photographer will deliver the best results possible. From a practical point of view, a professional photographer will have public liability insurance. So worst case situation, your employee trips on a tripod, they have all the cover sorted. Of course they will carry backup kit. Technology has the habit of failing at a crucial moment, but pros will carry backups and are able to carry on work without fuss or client embarrassment. They’ll have off camera lights plus a mobile studio and routinely pre-visit locations to speed things up on the day of the actual shoot. Finally they will have that all-important ‘eye’ for a shot and be confident to try different ideas to get perfect results.
When commissioning a photographer the images they produce will be bespoke from a brief and exclusive to you and your company. Many businesses go down the route of using images from micro stock libraries and the like, forgetting that many other competing organisations might have licensed the exactly the same image. Agreeing an exclusive deal with a library is often more costly than commissioning a brand new image direct from a photographer.
At the end of the day, like most things in life, cutting corners by not using professional photography can be a false economy for your business.
